Wine Ratings & Reviews

COSECHA 2006

WINE OF THE WEEK
"Unoaked and bright, this 90% Tempranillo is exactly the kind of wine I referred to in the lead article, with fresh berries, and a clean and crisp finish. It has perfect flavors and great affinity for a wide variety of foods. There's not much complexity in this lighter-bodied wine, just the sheer joy of unadulterated fruit! Imported by the Ferrer family which owns Gloria Ferrer in Sonoma County."

"Spanish wines are hot these days and no wonder – you can’t beat the quality/value relationship. This new brand from the Ferrer family marries Old World heritage with New World style. A young, unaoked wine (cosecha) made with Tempranillo and Graciano, it’s packed with juicy red fruit flavors and a hint of earthiness."

CRIANZA 2004

CRITICS PLATINUM
" Cherry fruit, soft tannins, well integrated oak -- nothing too razzle-dazzle, just a beautifully well made and pleasing Rioja."
- Marguerite Thomas, 2009 Critics Challenge Wine Competition

"The modest price of Rioja continues to amaze me. This Crianza is a beauty and perfect for summer barbecues."
- Robert Whitley, Union Tribune, July 8, 2009

86 POINTS
"This plump red supports plum, chocolate and leafy flavors with ample tannins, but remains fresh and accessible. Licorice and mineral notes add interest. Drink now through 2011. 840 cases imported."
-Thomas Mathews, Wine Spectator, Sept. 30, 2008

"Nip into some just right bottles for fall"
